The decision revised and supplemented Articles 118, 152, 171, 173, and 185 of the criminal code. In addition, the NPC Standing Committee adopted a regulation regarding punishment for bribery and corruption that revised and supplemented Articles 126, 155, and 185. The first criminal code in the PRC was passed in 1980, marking the beginning of the period of Open Policy and Reform and the end of the Cultural Revolution. As a result of these new reforms, many new organizations were created and economic activity throughout China rapidly increased.
