This report presents committee recommendations to be presented to the United Nations Economic and Social Council in April 1992 and focuses on ways to address illicit drug trafficking and related issues in the Near and Middle East.
Abstract
The committee's recommendations focused on its membership, annual meeting, and the training needs of law enforcement agencies. It also noted an increase in drug abuse and drug trafficking in the region, especially with respect to opiates and marijuana. Major issues addressed in meetings of subcommittees were the exchange and use of intelligence regarding illicit drug trafficking, illicit traffic in opiates from the region to Europe, and illicit traffic in fenetylline.
