Committees of international non-governmental organizations established at the United Nations to address drug abuse issues conducted several activities in 1991 including a briefing session and meetings, the distribution of information posters, participation in an information exchange meeting, and the publication of a quarterly newsletter.
Abstract
Members of the committee at the New York headquarters include representatives of 43 organizations, while the Vienna committee has members from 41 organizations. Individual organizations conducted many activities during 1991 including drug abuse education and treatment, performances by a theater group, public awareness activities, and support for local youth outreach programs. Other activities include the publication of books, sponsorship of conferences and training sessions, publication of newsletters and sponsorship of projects to support alternative crop cultivation.
