Within the Superintendent's Office, the Aviation Unit and the Planning and Research Unit report to the deputy superintendent, while the Internal Audit Unit, the Internal Affairs Unit, and the Information Office report to the superintendent. The Bureau of Administrative and Support Service is responsible for communications, data processing, personnel, property and finance, records management, and training. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation consists of the Divisions of General Investigations, Special Investigations, and Support Services. The General Investigations Division is responsible for polygraphs, arson and bomb related matters, representation to the Leviticus Project Association, fugitive apprehension, auto theft, homicide, white collar crime, crime scene examination, and violent crime analysis. Some of the functions undertaken by the Special Investigations Division include marijuana eradication, drug planning, asset forfeiture, and participation in multi-jurisdiction and Federal/State task forces. Through the Bureau of Field Operations, the Uniformed State Police provide both traffic enforcement and criminal law enforcement based upon the ability of local agencies to respond.
