Abstract
The handbook identifies family violence course goals and objectives and provides instruction in individual training modules. Topics covered in the training modules include the cycle of domestic violence and the dynamics of abuse; group and family interactions; legislation and ordinances; communication and perceptions; officer motivation and attitude; elder, spouse, and child abuse; the handling of abnormal and violent persons; crisis intervention; suicide and suicide prevention; safety techniques; fact-finding procedures; civil liabilities and arrest; stress awareness and management; and family values and cultural diversity. The handbook contains a selection of family violence scenarios and a bibliography. 2 appendixes
