Six main areas provide the basis for the Youth Link work program: youth club work, voluntary organizations' support, school work, group work, court work, and monitoring. Managed by the ethnic minority officer for Bradford Youth Service, the project is supported by an advisory group of key local agencies. The project, which works with some 150 young people a week, reports many personal achievements, has improved access to training and employment opportunities, and has had a positive influence on the police and education service. There were only 15 reported racist incidents during the first six months of 1989 compared with 65 during the same period in 1987 and 66 in 1988. 1 table
