Nothing to Do -- Nowhere to Go: A Practical Guide to Tackling Youth Crime and Disaffection in the Community

NCJ Number

Annotation
Intended to be of practical use to all concerned agencies and members of the public, this guide presents a strategy for reducing youth crime.
Abstract
The guide draws on the work of the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders' Welsh Juvenile Crime Prevention Unit which has identified four key elements in a crime prevention strategy: accurate information on crime and related issues, multi-agency cooperation, the development of ways in which young people can be consulted and can participate in planning and implementing action, and monitoring and evaluation. Any proposed action plan will be influenced by local circumstances, but all plans need to identify the essential components. The guide includes an example of a plan and illustrations of various projects and suggests ways to seek financial and other support. 1 appendix
