New Jersey Bureau of Parole Annual Report, Fiscal Year 1992

This report describes the functions and structure of the New Jersey Bureau of Parole and its major activities during fiscal year 1992.
Abstract
During the past several years, the Bureau has reallocated its resources to make the maximum possible use of personnel and equipment in times of fiscal austerity, but the increasing caseloads and broadening of statutory responsibilities require increases in resources. Traditional caseloads have increased from 73 parolees per parole officer to 81 and then to 92. As the fiscal year ended, caseload ratios were exceeding 100 per officer. Needs expected due to caseload increases or probable changes in legislation include the expansion of the urinalysis program, a formal institutional parole program to serve each of the county facilities, additional transportation for general supervision field officers, and increased legal advice regarding parole revocation hearings.
