This packet of materials contains fact sheets regarding the nature, incidence, and responses to domestic assault in Canada; the Canadian government's initiative on family violence; and materials available from the National Clearinghouse on Family Violence of Health and Welfare Canada.
Abstract
The initiative provides funding to seven Federal government departments, which will work in partnership with community groups and professional associations to mobilize community action in the effort to reduce family violence, strengthen the laws for dealing with it, improve victim services, and prevent further abuse by offenders. Individual pamphlets in the materials kit focus on child abuse and neglect, child sexual abuse, abuse of the elderly, dating violence, and adolescent sex offenders. They also explain the role of Health and Welfare Canada in the Family Violence Initiative and list articles, films, and videotapes available from the national clearinghouse. A cover letter is included.
