In 1984, the Ohio Legislature passed the State Victims Assistance Act (SVAA) and Congress passed the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA); together, these statutes established the Ohio Crime Victims Assistance Program, under which State and Federal financial aid is distributed to qualified local offices and organizations that operate victim assistance programs.
Abstract
This annual report summarizes both pieces of legislation. Two graphs depict the distribution of State and Federal grants awarded between October 1991 and September 1992. The bulk of the report contains brief descriptions of the various victim assistance programs in Ohio. Each description includes information on geographic area served, Congressional district, Ohio House and Senate district, program address and telephone number, grant information, program objectives, and intended uses for the grant funds.
