Three cases of acute methamphetamine intoxication are discussed.
Abstract
The concentration of methamphetamine in blood samples from the three victims were 27.2, 6.43, and 0.60 ug/ml, respectively. All three persons died during the summer and had been exposed to high temperatures in a closed room at the time of death. Macroscopic autopsies revealed hemorrhagic pulmonary edema; diffuse contraction-band necrosis was evident in all three myocardia. The absolute structures of six illegally obtained methamphetamines showed an S-configuration with an optical purity of more than 99 percent in enantiometric excess; four were racemic. 2 figures, 4 tables, and 16 references
