This report provides statistical information on the domestic proceedings in magistrates' courts in England and Wales in 1991 and gives comparisons with previous years back to 1986.
Abstract
Applications for financial maintenance under the Domestic Proceedings and Magistrates' Courts Act of 1978 declined by 19 percent, family protection by 26 percent, and attachment of earnings by 6 percent from 1990 to 1991. The highest rates of applications were in Nottinghamshire, Somerset, Tyne and Wear, and Durham. A total of 96,800 applications for enforcement of support payments were received in 1991.
