The statistics show that crime index offenses increased 5.4 percent over 1990 rates. Violent crimes increased 10.9 percent, while property crimes increased 4.9 percent. Incendiary and suspicious fires increased 27.4 percent during the reporting period, while the value of stolen property increased 7.3 percent. Following a crime index overview, this volume contains sections on murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, simple assault, property crime, burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, criminal damage, and arson. Each section consists of a 10-year trend graph and information on location of offense, day of occurrence, 24-hour trends, and other data. There are separate chapters on stolen and recovered property, arrests, law enforcement officers killed or assaulted, and law enforcement employees.
