There were 2,023 participants in the day reporting program between December 1990 and December 31, 1991. Black inmates accounted for 41.9 percent of the overall participant population, Hispanics 31.7 percent, and whites 25.6 percent. The mean age of day report participants was 32.3 years. A drug offense was the primary crime of commitment. For the 13 month period reported, 1,514 participants were released from the program: 914 were paroled and 600 were unfavorably removed due to their failure to abide by program guidelines. Average time spent in the program prior to unfavorable release was 1.4 months; average time before parole release was 2.8 months.
