By way of background, the report highlights the following topics: (1) crime victim compensation; (2) victim input into parole decisions; and (3) victim/witness protection. The major focus of the report concerned testimonial privilege for sexual assault and domestic violence counselors, victim-witness courtroom attendance, profits from crime, and crime victims' compensation. The Crime Commission focused on legislative proposals to expand eligibility coverage, raise the funeral reimbursement award, and ensure confidentiality. For each issue, the report includes background on existing Federal and State law, arguments against the proposal, and arguments in support of the proposal. 5 appendices, 39 notes, 18 references
