The issue editors strived to illustrate, through their selections, the range of approaches and topics in criminology in Britain, Europe, and internationally, represented at the conference by 120 authors, 36 of whom were not based in the United Kingdom. The first papers presented here offer some insights into current criminological discourses and ideologies, followed by discussions of developments in criminal justice, the changing patterns of criminality in relation to crime prevention planning and management, comparative research on European cities, criminal career research, and road traffic offending.
