This statistical analysis profiles crime trends based upon the voluntary submission of data from participating law enforcement agencies within the State. A 5-year (1987-91) comparison of index offenses in New Hampshire is followed by data on crime trends for 1991 compared to 1990. A 1991 "crime clock" indicates how often various crimes are committed in New Hampshire. Statistics are provided for the offenses of murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, arson, and domestic assault. Crime and crime rates are presented by county; and arrest data cover arrest totals, juvenile arrests, and adult arrests. The percentage of serious crimes reported for 1991 dropped by 8.1 percent from 1990. This was largely due to the decrease in the number of reported rapes by 14.8 percent, aggravated assaults by 9.6 percent, burglaries by 2.8 percent, larcenies by 9.7 percent, and motor vehicle thefts by 12.4 percent.
