The Helsinki Institute for Crime Prevention and Control (HEUNI) is the European regional institute for the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program, and the primary objective of HEUNI is to promote the international exchange of information on crime prevention and control among European countries.
Abstract
Main functions of HEUNI are to organize seminars on crime and criminal justice, collect information on matters within its jurisdiction, conduct research, and organize meetings that serve HEUNI objectives. The 1991 report of HEUNI notes such projects as environmental crime, prison health in Europe, domestic violence, organized crime, and computerization and information management. The HEUNI program for 1992-1993 focuses on the need for assistance in Central and Eastern Europe, the automation of criminal justice systems, the development of United Nations criminal justice statistical surveys, organized crime, criminal law reform, and information management activities. A list of HEUNI publications is provided.
