Abstract
Following profiles of police communications software and hardware, an article discusses oleoresin capsicum as a nonlethal force alternative. This is an aerosol spray that uses the active ingredient of cayenne pepper mixed with a solvent under pressure with a propellent. It is intended to be sprayed directly into a subject's face, and it takes effect immediately as an inflammatory agent. Training in the use of oleoresin capsicum is outlined. Another article profiles various ammunition for the .380 ACP auto pistol, which is rapidly replacing the .38 Special revolver as police departments' choice for backup and off-duty use. The article describes the performance of the Federal 90 grain JHP, the Winchester 85 grain Silvertip, and the Remington 88 grain JHP. An article that profiles various waistband holsters considers the Belly Buster, the Defender, the Ranger Model 14 Belly band Rig, the Body Guard, the Belly Band #60, and the Super Elastic Sam Browne Rig. The firearms review profiles the Beretta Model 96 and the Glock Auto Pistol Upgrade. An article on training presents principles of self-hypnosis as a means of increasing shooting accuracy. This involves tense and relax techniques, progressive relaxation technique, positive affirmation technique, imagery practice, and scenario visualization techniques. A 7-item bibliography
