This report highlights the activities of the Onondaga County (New York) Probation Department in 1992. The department's missions are to provide presentence and predispositional investigations and reports, supervise persons sentenced to probation, provide intake services for family court, provide pretrial release services and other alternatives to incarceration, and accomplish the above functions in an efficient and cost-effective manner and in accordance with State law.
Abstract
Probation department units that provide services to the family court include the intake unit, persons in need of supervision (PINS) adjustment services, and family unit. Services to criminal courts are provided through the pretrial release unit, criminal courts investigations and statistics, criminal courts supervision, geographic location of all persons on probation, and violations of probation. Special programs operated by the department include enhanced supervision, conditional release program, domestic violence unit, driving while intoxicated unit, intensive supervision program, electronic home confinement program, weekend home confinement program, alternatives to incarceration, and the day reporting program. This report contains additional information regarding records retention and disposition, drug testing, and plans and programs for 1993.
