This report summarizes the policies and procedures as well as the 1993 activities of the various divisions of the Alabama Department of Public Safety: the administrative division, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation Division, the driver license division, the highway patrol division, the narcotic division, and the service division.
Abstract
The task of the administrative division is to serve all other divisions by implementing policies and procedures to facilitate the smooth operation of the entire department. Components include employee relations, executive protection, financial services, the legal unit, information systems and technology, personnel, public information and education, purchasing, and the special investigative unit. Investigative support is the function of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation Division and the narcotic division. The driver license division provides testing and recordkeeping services. Nine troops, communication centers, tactical teams, and the Motor Carrier Safety Unit make up the 18 Highway Patrol posts. The service division provides training, supplies, equipment, assistance, research, information, and other special services to facilitate department operation. 1 figure and 5 tables
