Abstract
The intent of the grant program is to promote the design, demonstration, and assessment of a "comprehensive department-wide community policing prototype" in selected law enforcement agencies and communities. The intent is that this effort will produce a clearer understanding of the elements of community policing and the processes that are involved in its implementation. Differences in strategies used to implement the prototype are expected to occur between demonstration sites. The booklet lists the goals and objectives of the program, outlines program strategy, explains eligibility and selection criteria, and designates the award period (12 months) and award amount ($200,000 initial award per site). The due date is no later than June 28, 1993. Appended listing of Bureau of Justice Assistance State offices and application forms
