Abstract
About 12,300 persons were held in custody during July 1992, 11,680 men and 620 women. These figures represented an increase over June 1991 in the larger jurisdictions. Imprisonment rates varied by jurisdiction from 31.8 to 266.9 per 100,000 population. Data are provided on work release, periodic detention, the number of federal prisoners in each jurisdiction, and the number of unsentenced prisoners on remand.
