Abstract
One chart shows the number and percentage of 1991 custody entries from selected counties by placement type (replacement, cooperative, Division for Youth program). The counties selected were those with 30 or more Division for Youth custody entries in 1991, including voluntary agency admissions. The remaining tables in the report address only admissions to programs operated by the Division for Youth. These include secure, limited secure, nonsecure, and community-based facilities; foster care; and community care. Programs operated by voluntary agencies are excluded. One table indicates the percentage of youth with selected characteristics in programs operated by the Division for Youth for selected counties. Characteristics for which data are reported are gender, age at admission, race/ethnicity, postrelease home, household structure, initial service setting, adjudication, prior custody status, and type and category of most serious adjudicated offense. The final table indicates the percentage of screened youth from selected counties with selected intake needs among 1991 custody entries for programs operated by the Division for Youth. Data address the number screened and the percentage with needs associated with substance abuse, mental health, special education, sex offender service, physical health, limited English, and mental retardation. 1 chart and 2 tables
