This 1992 annual report of the Illinois Department of Corrections reports on the work of the various divisions as well as the director's staff and presents data on operations.
Abstract
The Illinois Department of Corrections devises policy out of the recognition that the State cannot build its way out of the prison crowding crisis. This has led to a focus on community-based corrections and on programs that involve the community in rehabilitative and prevention efforts, particularly for youth. Following a table of organization of the Department of Corrections, a map shows the locations of correctional facilities. Activities for 1992 are then described for the director's staff, the chief deputy director, finance and administration, support services, the adult division, community services, the juvenile division, and fiscal year 1992 expenditures. The report of the Adult Division includes a profile for each correctional facility, including statistical data; and the Community Services Division profiles the activities and operations of the various community correctional centers. The Juvenile Division describes various youth centers. Tables show correctional expenditures for fiscal year 1992. Tables of statistical data are provided.
