Abstract
Crime statistics are tabulated by precinct; each section describing a precinct contains a patrol districts map and tables of Part 1 and 2 offenses. Other sections present data on dispatched calls for service, a profile of the Department's contract cities, and special operations activity including the air support unit, hostage negotiation team, K-9 unit, marine unit, bomb disposal unit, Tac-30 team, and search and rescue unit. The Criminal Investigation Division consists of the special assault unit, drug enforcement unit, and fraud and forgery unit; it also deals with warrants and gang-related activity. The report highlights operations in traffic enforcement, traffic accident management, and communications. Community-oriented programs include Drug Abuse Resistance Education, community crime prevention, community service projects, and reserve officer programs. The Department's other specialized units are the civil unit, internal investigations unit, and automated fingerprint identification system unit.
