Primary prevention is concerned with preventing children at risk of becoming juvenile offenders from committing their first offenses. Secondary prevention involves intervention with juvenile offenders in the early stages of their offending histories to prevent further involvement in the juvenile justice system. Tertiary prevention focuses on the rehabilitation of hardcore, serious offenders. Information on each program encompasses the target population, program description, the number of juveniles served, program cost, the agencies involved, program objectives/benefits, and the name and phone number of a contact person. There are 20 categories of programs, with a number of individual programs described under each category. The program categories include "Choices" programs (emphasis on proper behavioral choices), community service restitution programs, constructive activity programs, education/awareness programs, employment/vocational/work study programs, family programs, first offender/shoplifter programs, foster home programs, intensive supervision programs, mediation programs, outreach programs, and reintegration/independent living programs.
