This booklet contains the final test for the "Suicide Prevention in Custody Intensive Study Correspondence Course."
Abstract
The test contains 25 multiple-choice questions worth 4 points each, for a possible total of 100 points. The student must score at least 80 on the test to qualify for a certificate of completion, which credits the student with 20 hours of inservice training. The questions focus on the health screening process, behavioral signs of depression, aspects of suicide prevention, administrative review, environmental factors that influence suicidal behavior, and first aid appropriate for a hanging victim. Other questions pertain to custodial guidelines for inmates who are suicide risks, a suicide prevention plan, a profile of inmates who commit or attempt suicide in custody, and the duties of a correctional worker that contribute to suicide prevention. Other questions address effective interpersonal communication and facility design and equipment policies that help prevent inmate suicide.
