Created in 1987, the Texas Narcotics Control Program (TNCP) is administered by the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division. The TNCP provides funding and administrative support to Drug Control Initiative Programs including the Multi-Jurisdictional Anti-Drug Abuse Task Forces and Prosecution Units.
Abstract
The TNCP is funded through the Federal Anti-Drug Abuse Acts of 1986 and 1988. In turn, it provided a grant to the Texas Criminal Justice Policy Council to analyze case disposition information for all arrests made under the TNCP drug control program. This report tabulates case data for calendar year 1989. Graphical analyses of drug arrests and disposition tables cover drug data, drug dispositions, convictions and dismissals, sentencing, and categories of illicit drug amounts seized. After the data are entered into the offender-tracking database, they are processed through compilation of all multiple records and evaluation of multiple records to determine if at least one disposition and/or conviction has been reported. If multiple convictions are reported, the database evaluates the sentences received by the offender in terms of prison, probation, county jail, probated county jail, or fine. 1 appendix
