Intended to assist local officials in developing appropriate responses to HIV and AIDS, this volume presents working examples of policies and procedures in use in jurisdictions in several States.
Abstract
The policies address the following areas: (1) monitoring and assuring quality of services provided by organizations funded by the locality or local government agencies; (2) early intervention, referral, and followup; (3) voluntary partner notification services; (4) coordination between HIV prevention and services related to sexually transmitted diseases; (5) tuberculosis prevention and control measures for individuals infected with HIV; and (6) HIV prevention efforts targeting drug users. The responses were based on a survey of 94 local health departments. The survey revealed that some communities had no HIV-specific policies in place in the topics covered, others operate under State policies, and still others have adopted local policies. The policies printed in this resource guide are reprinted exactly as submitted by the survey respondents. List of survey respondents and their addresses
