This report describes the organizational structure, programs, and activities of the Rhode Island Division of State Police during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1992.
Abstract
The Division began focusing on accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, a process that should take approximately 2 years and will strengthen the policies and procedures of the State police. The Intelligence Unit conducted a variety of investigations and sized some property connected with illegal activities. The Uniform Branch consisted of approximately 105 troopers located in five barracks throughout the State. The Uniform Division responded to property and violent crimes, accidents, and other problems. The Detective Branch investigated many types of serious crimes. Patrol officers issued 34,543 traffic summonses containing 50,062 violations and handled 2,448 traffic accidents.
