Statistics are provided on the number of offenders in Washington's adult correctional institutions, the number of offenders on work release, and prison admissions and releases for fiscal year 1993.
Abstract
The statistics reflect the average daily institutional population and rated capacity by month, the average daily female inmate population, the racial distribution of inmates, offense types, violent crime convictions, inmate age distribution, and sentencing. Prison admission data are tabulated by month and type of admission; type and county of conviction; inmate age, race, and sex at time of admission; sentencing type and authority; and offense type. Prison release data are calculated for release type and month, race distribution, length of stay, and release by sentencing authority. The data indicate that about 1,000 to 1,100 offenders were on work release monthly and that the institutional population averaged approximately 10,000 inmates monthly, well over the capacity of about 6,700 to 7,500.
