This report presents statistics on crime patterns, clearance rates, arrests, and offenders in Kentucky during 1991.
Abstract
During the year, 125,553 serious crimes were committed, for a rate of a serious crime every 4.19 minutes. Property crimes outnumbered violent crimes by 6 to 1. Firearms were used in 67 percent of all murders. Seventy-seven percent of all murder victims were white, and 76 percent were male. A rape was committed every 4.5 hours, and a robbery every 2.8 hours. Fifty-eight percent of violent crimes and 21 percent of property crimes were solved. A total of 44,490 persons were arrested for driving under the influence, and 17,564 arrests occurred for drug law violations. A total of 279,658 arrests were made in 1991. Figures and tables
