Abstract: |
Focusing on the reduction of opportunities for crime, the seminar reviewed the state of the art and proposed research and action ideas for the future. An overview discussed trends and changes in the structure of United States society and the relationship of these trends to problems of urban design, urban security, and crime prevention. Individual presentations focused on crime prevention through environmental design, security personnel, facility security, the concept of defensible space in public housing, security codes and ordinances, small business security, personal property identification, and areas in which further research is needed.
