Section I of the report discusses recent trends in pretrial detention admissions by comparing 1990 and 1991 data. The 2,716 bail admissions into Massachusetts' youth detention system in 1991 represented a 1-percent increase over 1990. The number of female admissions decreased by 5 percent, the number of white admissions increased by 2 percent, the number of black admissions decreased by 6 percent, and the number of Hispanic admissions increased by 8 percent.
