The first article analyzes the concept of security in the wake of changes in the Hungarian political system, while the second article discusses the crisis of values in Central Europe and its link to crime. The third article evaluates the length of European prison terms in the light of the European Convention on Human Rights. The changes in the social studies program of Hungary's police academy in response to the new democratic system are discussed in the fourth article. The fifth article summarizes previous studies concerning the values and results of police activity while the following two articles devote themselves to the successes and problems in two police departments. Next, the new Hungarian fingerprint and palmprint identification system is described. The following three articles focus on traffic issues: the rising number of traffic accidents in Hungary, and the experiences with traffic regulation in two Hungarian localities. The last four articles deal with specific offenses: a series of burglaries, an attempted rape murder, bankruptcy problems in newly established companies, and international organized crime.
