Abstract
The introductory chapter surveys medical, psychological, and social concerns of persons with AIDS (PWA's). The following chapter outlines the 1989 revision of the Florida Omnibus AIDS Act and other Florida legislation concerning HIV testing and confidentiality. The chapter on family law discusses HIV-related issues concerning divorce, child custody and visitation, foster care and adoption, domestic relations and parental authority, and reproductive freedom. The following chapter is devoted to AIDS-related prison policies such as mandatory AIDS testing. The section on children and AIDS explains legal protection against discrimination of seropositive children and HIV prevention education. Next, public disability programs and ways of establishing disability due to AIDS are outlined for Florida. The section on military law focuses on AIDS testing and the danger of getting a court martial for seropositive military personnel. Two chapters explain work-related issues of PWA's and insurance, credit, collection, and bankruptcy regulations. An annotated bibliography for women with AIDS includes publications on such issues as epidemiology/research, AIDS prevention, testing, counseling, and intervention methods. A quick reference guide provides descriptions and addresses of numerous AIDS information publications, resource organizations, and hotlines. Numerous supplements including a legal materials resource guide are appended.
