This Oregon Department of Corrections annual report for fiscal year 1990 profiles the activities and data for the various branches of the department and presents the legislatively authorized budget for 1990-91.
Abstract
The Administration and Planning Branch provides planning and support services for the department. The Institutions Branch is responsible for the management of 15 prison/corrections facilities located in eight counties, and the Community Services Branch is responsible for the community supervision of adult offenders under probation, parole, or post-prison supervision. The Inspections Branch performs an oversight function in periodically inspecting and investigating operations to ensure compliance with rules and procedures. Significant achievements noted by the Director of the Oregon Department of Corrections are the completion of four new prisons and two construction projects in existing prisons to add 1,507 new prison beds, which increased the department's bedspace capacity to 7.014, with 6,690 budgeted for occupancy. Improved training at all staffing levels is helping the department meet expanded staff workloads.
