This document summarizes information about the volume and movement of offenders under Wisconsin Department of Corrections jurisdiction during calendar year 1991.
Abstract
The number of adult offenders jailed in Wisconsin during 1991 rose from 7,085 on January 1 to 7,532 on December 31, an increase of 6.3 percent. These figures included 339 female offenders. The average daily population of institutionalized offenders rose steadily from 5,660 in 1987 to 7,282 in 1991, an increase of 28.7 percent over the 5-year period. The number of community supervision cases from 34,094 at the beginning of the year to 39,531 by December 31, representing an increase of 15.9 percent. The average daily population of offenders under community supervision rose from 25,542 in 1987 to 36,851 in 1991, an increase of 44.3 percent over the 5-year period. 3 tables and 1 figure
