A national conference on Courts and Communities: Confronting Violence in the Family was held in March 1993, sponsored by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and the State Justice Institute.
Abstract
The conference agenda included presentations on effective protection orders, lethality assessment, access to the courts, court-based victim assistance programs, evidence issues, prosecution units, cultural issues in domestic violence, expert testimony and battered women defendants, and pretrial release issues. Other subjects included judicial education, family violence coordinating councils, legislation and case law, death review teams, family reunification, children's exposure to domestic violence, community resources, and treatment programs for victims and children. The materials in this book are categorized as State team action plans and conference evaluation, issues and programs associated with civil courts, criminal courts, and family and juvenile courts.
