This report highlights of court activity in Georgia during fiscal year 1992.
Abstract
The first section reviews the various levels of courts including the State Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Superior Courts, State Courts, juvenile courts, probate courts, and magistrate courts. In the second section, the activities of various judicial agencies are described; these agencies include, inter alia, the Judicial Council of Georgia, the Administrative Office of the Courts, judicial councils for the different types of courts, and the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission. In 1992, the Georgia Courts Automation Commission expanded its efforts to improve the data sharing between the courts and criminal justice practitioners. The Joint Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution developed a plan for a comprehensive, court-annexed dispute resolution program for the State. The Georgia Commission on Gender Bias concluded a 2-year study by issuing a set of findings and recommendations.
