This report summarizes crime in Boston during 1991, including index crimes, drug law offenses, efforts to address gang problems, police training programs, and police performance statistics.
Abstract
Part One index crimes declined 8.9 percent during 1991 to its lowest level since 1973. Priority One response time averaged 6.3 minutes, a decrease of 3 percent from the prior year. Arrests by the drug control unit totaled 2,044 during the year. The clearance rate for Priority One crimes increased 1/27 percent to an average of 30.53 percent during 1991. Moving violations of traffic laws increased from 120,171 in 1990 to 123,038 in 1991. The Anti-Gang Violence Unit is working in several areas to reduce the presence of gangs and has made 3,572 arrests since its establishment. Figures and tables
