This is an estimate of the percentage change in Uniform Crime Reports index crimes as reported by law enforcement agencies in New York State for 1992 versus what was reported in 1991.
Abstract
Uniform Crime Reports index crimes were compared in New York State for the years 1991 and 1992. The 1992 figures were estimates based on data provided by law enforcement agencies that had submitted complete monthly reports as of March 1993. Total number of crimes and percentage increase or decrease were reported for New York State as a whole and for New York City and upstate separately. The upstate totals were also separated by the size of the population in the reporting jurisdictions. Figures for violent crime and property crime were separated and these categories were broken down further into murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft. Taken as a whole, the State of New York saw a decrease in crime in all categories except forcible rape which increased 1.2 percent.
