This is a statistical report on drug addicts and drug- related deaths reported to the Home Office in the United Kingdom.
Abstract
This document is a series of statistical tables on drug addicts and drug related deaths in the United Kingdom reported to the Chief Medical Officer at the Home Office as required by the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 1973. These regulations require doctors to report patients whom they consider to be addicted to one of 14 specified drugs. For the years 1988 through 1992, the tables distinguish between new addicts reported and those who were previously reported and are still known to be addicts. Reports of new addicts only also were tracked from 1982. The tables give the statistics by police district and by the regional health authority that gave the notification. Heroin addicts are separated from the totals in one table. Addicts are also reported on by age and sex. 13 tables
