Abstract
This is a collection of summaries of research reports addressing various legal policy issues in Finland. The first two summaries address the issue of consumer credit and debt collection. One focuses on the development of various forms of credit and the process and criteria companies use for granting credit. Both summaries looked at the role of debt collection agencies and the stages involved in debt collections. Three of the summaries were of reports on the anticipated consequences of a law passed in 1989 in Finland which codified and reformed many of the major practices and rules of criminal investigation. The reports studied small, medium and large cities, respectively, during the months just prior to when the new law went into effect to assess how they would be affected. A sixth summary discussed the Finnish Product Safety Act which went into force in May 1987. This document concludes with a statistical summary of criminality in Finland and a list of other publications by the staff of the National Research Institute of Legal Policy. 2 tables
