These data tables present statistics on the classification of male felon inmates within the California State prison system.
Abstract
California felon inmates receive a classification score based on several factors, including the length of the prison term, prior incarceration behavior, and prior escapes. A high classification score should result in placement at a high security level, and in most cases, inmates with higher classification scores are placed in institutions with higher security levels. Circumstances such as educational, work, or other administrative needs can result in the placement of inmates in institutions with different security levels and does not mean that the inmate is inappropriately placed out of level.
