Abstract
During June 1993, the average daily inmate population in Florida's county detention facilities decreased 0.1 percent, from the month before, to 34,347 (86.4 percent adult males, 10.7 percent adult females, and 2.9 percent juveniles). The male-to-female ratio has remained fairly constant in the last 5 years. Felony offenders represented 71.3 percent of the total population, and misdemeanants, 21.9 percent. The incarceration rate per 1,000 residents was 2.6 statewide, ranging from a low of 0.7 in Holmes County to a high of 7.0 in Hamilton County. Average daily inmate population exceeded capacity in nine of the 67 counties. Statistics are also included on parole violators, State inmates, undocumented aliens, holdings for other jurisdictions, individuals detained under the mental health and alcoholism acts, pretrial inmates at each facility, and facilities whose capacity was amended during the month. 4 tables and 6 figures
