Abstract
Data on monthly prison populations and movements show the prison population for each month from June 1992 through June 1993. The institutional populations are presented by sex and institutional status (felons, civil narcotic addicts, Youth Authority, county diagnostic, safekeepers, and other State and Federal facilities). The male institutional population for felons in June 1992 was 94,777; for June 1993 it was 104,768. For female felons, the June 1992 institutional population was 5,654, and the June 1993 population was 6,450. Data on prison population movements are presented for the same months. The total inmates received in June 1992 was 10,123, and 9,323 were released. In June 1992, 9,323 were released; and in June 1993, 9,270 were released. Racial and ethnic distribution is shown by institution. Parole populations are also shown for the months of June 1992 through June 1993. Parole population and movements are shown by commitment type. Racial-ethnic distribution for parole population and movements is indicated by region.
