Date Published
1993
Length
153 pages
Annotation
This report describes the Federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's (OJJDP) efforts to carry out the broad mandates of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act during fiscal year 1992.
Abstract
As the report shows, OJJDP has provided leadership in policy and program development, research and statistical studies, information dissemination, and training and technical assistance. One chapter summarizes the findings of three congressionally mandated studies that pertain to the conditions in juvenile detention and correctional facilities, American Indian and Alaskan Native juvenile justice systems, and obstacles to the return and recovery of children abducted by parents. Six chapters report on the activities of OJJDP and its grantees in six mandated areas: State relations and assistance; research, evaluation and statistics; demonstration programs; training and technical assistance; missing and exploited children; and information dissemination. Each chapter describes OJJDP-funded projects active during fiscal year 1992. Another chapter fulfills the congressional mandate for OJJDP to identify exemplary delinquency prevention programs that receive assistance under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act. The appendix contains data related to OJJDP's funding history. An index of program descriptions by program title is provided.
