This is a guidebook for the American Probation and Parole Conference Intensive Workshop, September 19, 1993.
Abstract
The goal of the workshop was enhance correctional managers' abilities at assessing the external environment of their facilities and integrating facility mission with constituency demands. Sections of this document focus on the "Open Systems" model for residential facilities, facility mission and goals with constituency building, and enhancing media relations. Subheadings include "Defining Correctional Purpose," "The Power of Public Support," "A Matter of Partnership: Public Involvement in Residential Community Corrections," "Residential Community Corrections: Developing an Integrated Corrections Policy," and "Alternative Sentencing--Selling It to the Public." Each section has a list of performance objectives. Also included are an agenda and bios on the workshop staff.
